About
Often fueled by dark chocolate, Ellen writes educational and promotional content for a variety of clients, including: Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, Time Warner, the American Museum of Natural History, Abrams Books, Argosy Publishing and Weekly Reader.
She contributed many sections to Houghton Mifflin Harcourt’s Journeys series, a new core reading program designed to meet the diverse needs of K− 6 students. She has also written promotional web content for non-profits including Children’s PressLine, a youth media organization, and marketing materials for PBS, TIME for Kids and others.

Background
Ellen started out as Research Assistant in educational policy in DC. She then moved on to a Promotions Coordinator position at Sesame Workshop, followed by a Marketing Manager job in the book club division of Scholastic. Then, because she missed Grover and Elmo, she went back to Sesame Workshop where she was Director of Marketing for their software division.
Ellen has been happily freelancing since 2002.
She also tutors students in writing basics, part-time, at Borough of Manhattan Community College.
Ellen lives with her husband and their big black dog in NYC.
